The green green grass of Walsall

A new Toro Irrigation system has been installed at Walsall FC’s new training facility.

A total of 57 Toro 855S Series sprinklers were installed on the site, with 20 sprinklers on each of the two practice pitches and 17 sprinklers across the additional free-training area.

The irrigation is operated via a Toro Turf Decoder Controller (TDC) 100 control system, which allows the user to decide which sprinklers to use from a remote location up to 4.5km away.

The system can be used around the clock, giving the user opportunity to water at night. It has been said that by doing this, the ground then has a better chance to soak up water, in turn making the process more efficient than during the day.

In further news, the US-based company will also provide course maintenance for the USPGA Championship – being held from 7-10 August - at the Oakland Hills Country Club in Oakland County, Michigan.
